SWANSEA CANAL & RIVER WALK
in aid of BREAST CANCER RESEARCH
This walk has two routes and one starting point:
Start of 10 mile walk - Pontadawe Leisure Centre with a fun warm up 2.00pm
Start of 2 mile walk - Pontadawe Leisure Centre 4.00pm
Both walks finish around 6.00pm at Pontadawe Leisure Centre
Note:
The 10 mile walk follows a figure of eight route with stop off points at the
Glantawe Riverside Park and the Ynysmeudwy Arms where there will be live
music from Bear Bones - Traditional & Roots-based Songs
& Music
The Swansea Canal was once a busy industrial canal and has been closed since the 1930s, but with local community and several organisations working in partnership, certain sections at Clydach and Pontardawe are now navigable.
The canal is a very attractive 'green corridor' through the landscape, the canal and surrounding rivers are a great place to take a weekend walk. We fell in love with the idea that we would be walking through a nature reserve that includes the most amazing dragon flies and kingfishers - we know you will love it too!
